Concentric Circles (2)

So, thinking about concentric circles I keep thinking about what happens if your time and influence are not balanced between inside and outside circles. (Check Concentric Circles PT 1 if you need to figure out what we're talking about).

And I've got to admit...this one is still on the drawing board. I'm not really quite sure what to make of it just yet. So this may be more just a bunch of questions than answers. Maybe you can help me figure this out. Read on...

If you are off balance in the time you spend between the inside and the outside what will happen?

If you spend more time on the inside what will happen?
* more influence on the inside?
* a cozy group of friends?
* ???

If you spend more time on the outside what will likely happen?
* more influence on the outside?
* more people talking about you?
* ???

If you spend more time on the inside but have more influence on the outside what's that about?
* don't think that would happen.

If you spend more time on the outside but have more influence on the inside, what's up with that?
* that's seems likely. if you are out doing the things of God and then bringing those stories to the inside your credibility should soar.

I guess where I come down on all of this is that the natural byproduct of sowing and harvesting is random at times. However, we do get to decide where we spread the seeds. Seeds need to be sown both on the inside and outside. And I guess with the parable of the sower/soils we know what kind of return we should be expecting.

But is there anything else to think about here? Someone....please chime in on this.

When sowing seeds, I always think about the watering and nurturing that Some one will have to assume. Will it be me or should I leave that part to chance, Somebody else and just move on?

I think we need to sew both on the inner and outer circles. The love of God's people in (and outside)the church is the best apologetic for the gospel. When people see people from different sections of society love each other it is a powerful witness. However if we're not loving the brethren this won't happen but if we're not reaching out this won't happen. Having said this I am imbalanced towards reaching outward.

(What is the pic? Kandinsky? Very appropriate!)

How 'bout this thought- before asking questions, look at God's ideal. Those same circles in a kind of dance; all in pulsating motion, a "fluidity"(didn't you use that word once?) without bruising or deforming the circle beside it that only He can orchestrate. Well, He's still in control, but now He's meeting the demands and needs of each circle, each dancer, with their level of individual control and experience. We all have that control, we can either accept or reject, and depending on what we do with that control would answer your questions.

There was something you said- "more people talking about you?"- we need to remain faithful and true to who we are in Jesus; (1 Cor. 14:4 applies nicely here) not to build ourselves up, but the church (ok, that's just meeting place, so I should say Jesus ultimately). But really...just get people to talking; that'll be the evidence for you to determine the "who, what, where" and amount of influence you personally have within your own circles. Or outside your circles. Just be available for God to use you as only He can. It'll happen- just listen to The choreographer.
